Letter #19

Letter #19
Written-7/21/13
Received-7/24/13

Dear Jessica,
Tell your mom thanks for the letter. Next, so every week
I send home a letter to everyone telling them what I'm
doing and how I'm  doing. :) If you wouldn't mind I'd like the
same from you. :) Thanks.

His blog: http://wordsfromourwarrior.blogspot.com/

So do you even want me to play a song when I get home?
Small towns are cool. They are very close-knit. I don't know if
I would want to live in one, but I would be willing to give it a
shot. If my life had a soundtrack, a soundtrack includes more
than one song, but if I could only choose one it would be...
probably "Keep Holding On" with Christ as the one talking.
Change my name? I like my name, but if I had to change it,
it would be Ammon Nephi Moroni. Oh Ya!!! :)
When I was a kid probably the story of Nephi in 1st Nephi,
because of the courage he had and faith. Now my favorite is
Ammon. He can teach with the spirit, he loves the people he

teaches, and he can fight. :)
You are asking the wrong person about the date thing. All
I can think of for actual "dates" are: 1) hiking, which you were
sore afterward (hehehe) :) 2) The Hobbit, and ya. :)
Navajo; the word you use for a reason that's not really a
reason, because- biniinaa (pronounced bin-ee-naw). Use it well,
I'm sure you will. In fact use it on your family and tell me their
responses to it. This is gonna be good. :)
     Now it's the fun part! :) :) :) :)
-Why do you like Alma 46?
-Favorite scripture story now and as a kid? Why?
-What do you cherish/ hold dear?
-What do you yearn for?
-What do you feel is missing in your life?
-How many girls are named in the Book of Mormon? What are
their names? :)
I guess that'll do for now. Well I hope you have a fantastic
week!
     Until next time, Hagonet!

Received-7/20/13

Dear Jessica,
So this is going to be a quicker letter than normal
cause I still have to pack, more so finish packing cause
I am almost done. If for some reason you haven't heard,
which I'd be amazed :), I got transferred to Flora Vista,
NM and will be step training Elder Deacon there. Yes,
I'm excited. Yes, I'm sad to leave Blanding.
His new area.

So I want to GREATLY thank you for the poem. About
3 days before I received it from you I was talking to Elder
Hooton about it and how I wished I could get it. Then
BAM! You gave it to me. So Thank You!
I feel we became good friends between the end of
my basic and the start of SOI. I'd also REALLY look
forward to texting you every week in SOI. :)
Favorite experience is helping a family, the D family,
set a goal to get married in the temple. :)
Favorite prophets are Joseph Smith, Nephi, Christ :),
and Daniel. All had amazing courage and strength.
-So what was your first thought, words, and reaction to
what I sent you? I hope you liked them. :)
-Have you ever thought about getting a mormon.org
profile? (You should! They're cool!)
-Favorite chapter in the Book of Mormon? Why? :)
-How was your sister's wedding? What Temple?
Navajo for the week: ti-let's go
     Have a fantastic week! Hagonet!

Dear Jessica,
I LOVE THE TIE!!! You're packages are always so fun
and creative! I really enjoy them. :) And thank you for Mr
Squishy, he makes me smile, a lot. :) The definition and
your personal feelings on "sunshine" were really
inspirational. So I'm curious (as usual :) ) why did the
letter get sent back? If it was a wrong address, what did
you put? :)
(Mr. Squishy!)
As for your question about a non-living object that I
see everyday that symbolizes my life. Honestly, when I
read that the first thing that I thought of was your
sketch/trace. It's important to me because the church is
the most important thing to me and I love the Corps. So
now I'm asking the same question to you. :)
Now for your weekly Navajo lesson! :) So last week I
sent a picture of my new name tag. I'll give you the direct
translation, Jesus Christ
"BINAHAGHA" "AKEED" "DAYOOtKAAtGO YA NAAZINIGII"
"his religion" "those that"   "stand for it in the last days"
(His new name tag)
So cool story. This week we had some inactive members
help us with our family history. IT'S SO COOL! You should
get with your ward family history consultant and learn how
to do it, if you don't already know how, and you could work
on it while watching/listening to movies. Then you go to the
temple for those people. Just think of how happy those
people will be to see you when you get to the other side. :)
I'm excited to work on mine after my mission.
Now probably my favorite part of the letter!
QUESTION TIME!
-What do you think would be the hardest thing to endure
through for you?
-What song that you listen to, makes you feel the spirit
the most?
-What is your favorite chapter in the Book of Mormon?
-If I could come home and play one song on the piano after
my mission what would it be and why would you choose that
song?

Well I have to go soon, but I want to tell you how much
I know that this gospel is true. It has blessed my life in so
many ways. I have had so many spiritual experiences on my
mission. I have come to learn that as we obey God's
commandments we have his power and blessings and we are
happy.
Well until next time, don't forget to be awesome! Hagonet!

               -Elder Chipman

p.s.What do you know about the Hatfield and McCoy feud? We
talked about it in church today. :)

Dear Jessica,
Thank you so much for the picture! I LOVE IT! I took a
picture of it and showed it to Elder Provard. We both
agreed that it was pretty beawesome. :)
(Picture that I sketched/traced for him)

Don't worry about the Navajo I'm not very good either.
So I want you to guess. GUESS, what this phrase is.
Naaltoos Mormon Wolyehigii. Guess. Did you guess? Make
sure you guess. Guess again just to be safe. GUESS!!!! :)
It's "The Book of Mormon" in Navajo. :)
It might be easier if I ask for stuff but then I feel selfish
and greedy. :)
So included in this letter is a cool little scripture help thing.
I changed the title cause we both know that the Corps is better
than the Army. ;) I hope this can help you with whatever comes
your way. Oh, and when I got it, it was already underlined so
don't mind the underlining. :)
My biggest fear? Hmm, I guess seeing my friends or people
here on my mission in the spirit world and have them say to me,
"Why didn't you share the gospel with me?" or, "Why didn't you
try harder for me?"
-What is your biggest fear?
-When do you feel we became really good friends?
-What do you cherish most in life?
-What do you feel your purpose is in life?
I want you to know that I know the church is true. I know
that all the actions we make we should make with love, for that
is truly what our savior and redeemer did. I know that if you and
I both do our best to love everyone we meet our Father in Heaven
will indeed bless us.
     Well until next time, Hagonet!

Dear Jessica,
So I've seen this picture like a thousand times but when
you asked me to pick who I would be I looked at it with real
intensity! Who would you be and why?
(Who he picked)
So I have a fun fact to tell you. So we had the Missionary
Broadcast last night and...President Boyd K. Packer said that
being a mother is better than holding the Priesthood!
MWAHAHAHA!!!! :) :) :) :) :) :) :) So I have an apostle on my
side who says you're more awesome than me. :)
So you didn't ask me any questions I guess I'll ask you
some more. :)
But first the word of the week in Navajo, "Naaltoos"
means book. :)
-Favorite book?
-Favorite picture of Christ?
-What do you see yourself as doing and living in 5 years?
-Describe the perfect day for life right now and in 5 years.
-What do you think of Turquoise?
-Did you get the poster I sent you? Did you like it? What was
your first reaction?
-Do you think you could find "Chasing Cars" sheet music? :)
-Favorite picture from my mission so far?
-What makes you generally happy?
-What makes you happiest?
Well that should be good for now! :) Hope you have a
fantastic week. Just know that you have a missionary praying
for you! :) Until next time, Hagonet! :)

Dear Jessica,
It sounds like you have had an eventful past couple
of weeks! That's Fantastic! Well I hope you can find a
better job that is more accepting. I'll make sure I keep
that in my prayers. :)
How are you rich other than financially? Well you are
rich in: talent, kindness, beauty, knowledge, virtue,
honesty, faith, hope, charity, patience, humility, diligence,
and so much awesomeness (much more than me! :)
), and more.
I have a suggestion for scripture study, if you want to
take it of course. Instead of focusing on what Satan can do,
focus on what you can improve on. Just a thought. :)
Next time you see your dad say, "Hello shizhee!" Shizhee
means father. And "my mother" is shima. :) So there is your
Navajo words for now. :)
So I would kinda be exited if you did this for me except
it's a little more expensive. The next time you send me a
package you should include a tie. Here is the rules on ties,
they need to be conservative in color, pattern, width, and
length. If you can that would be great. If not that's fine too.
:)
Thanks for all you are doing. I am hoping that you find
the answers you are looking for! Just know that you are in
a missionaries prayers.
     Well until next time, Hagonet!

               -Elder Chipman

P.S. I can't believe I almost forgot to ask some questions! Best thing that happened in the past week? What did you think of the poster?

Dear Jessica,
Don't hate me for not writing back, I have good
reasons. I'M NOT IGNORING YOU, I PROMISE! So
this week we were reading in the "White Bible" a.k.a.
our rule book and it says we can only communicate
with family and friends on P-day. Next, our "wonderful"
new Zone Leaders came up about 2 weeks ago and
hid my mail AND FORGOT TO TELL ME ABOUT IT!
So I just found it this week and then I got your 2nd
letter the next day after we found the first one. Let's
just say I was NOT happy! AT ALL! :) So form now on
I'm going to write you every Monday as long as I've
gotten a letter from you in the past two weeks. :)
No making "more awesome" lists! I can't do that
cause I need to keep my mind focused on the work!
I don't know if I've helped you more cause you've
helped me A LOT!!!
Thanks for looking those things up for me. I really
appreciate it. So another Elder and I were talking about
how LEGIT it would be if we got a 24 page letter! So
feel free to write until you can't write anymore! :)
Yes there is an Elder Tanner, my companion knows
of him. Thanks for the puzzle. You always have the best
things to keep me excited! They all sit on my study
desk! :)
I feel kinda bad because you write longer letters than
I do, not that I'm complaining or anything :), but I guess
that I write 2 letters so that kinda makes up for it. But
your letters are still way better than mine! You are just
way more awesome than me! IT'S TRUE!
So you want me to ask questions huh? :) Ok! :)
-So what's the plan for your new living arrangements?
- Job situation with Red Cross? School?
-Who do you know that doesn't have the Gospel that
might want to hear it? Yes I ask this on a lot. :)
-Favorite song?
-What is your opinion on small towns?
-What's the best part of your average week?
-How/what scripture have you applied this past week?
-Favorite branch of the military? ;)
-What was your first thought when you saw the dating
application?
-Describe your average day
Is that enough?
-What was your ACTUAL response to the last question? :)
-What is your favorite meal that is somewhat fast and
easy to make?
Ok that should be good enough for now. For Navajo
just remember this and say it to yourself often cause
it's true! God Beawee Nishti.
Thanks for being such a great friend. It really means
a lot to me! Well until next time, Hagonet!

Dear Jessica,
I hope you like my little gift. I have the one of Enos
in my room. (Although it is not mine, it just stays in the
house.) I remember you talking about the brother of
Jared and how he kind of relates to you. :) So ya, I just
hope you enjoy it and I hope it made you smile. :)
(The poster he gave me)
So I got a new companion, Elder Hooton. He has been
out 1 transfer ahead of me and he is from Billings,
Montana. So now we have Elder Chipmunk and Elder Owl.
;)
So I got to see Elder Provard the other day. It was in
the gym of our mission office (which is a church) and I
parted the black and white sea...of missionaires and tackled
him! It was fun! :D
I have a new Book of Mormon!!! Well actually I have two.
Guess what languages they are in! :) I'm asking you to do
this because I know you just LOVE guessing games!
MWAHAHAHA!
Question time! :) Who is your favorite prophet from:
the latter days? The Book of Mormon? And the Bible? And
of course why? :)
I'm going to give you a hint on the Book of Mormon
question. I have this cool scripture that I want to share
with you.
"Jo aadoo, d ii bee nihit hashne ako hodza nihit
beedahodooz iiti ako bidahwiidoot aat dine bika anjilwogo
Diyin God teiya bika anjilwo la."  Have fun! Hehehe!
Ok so I'll be a little nice. Same scripture. :) "Y he aqui,
os digo estas cosas para que aprendais subiduria; para que
sepais que cuando os hallais al servicio de vuestros
semejantes, solo estais al servicio de vuestro Dios."
     Hope that helped! :)
Well I gtg. Hopefully I get a letter from you this week,
probably will but we'll see. :) Until next time, Hagonet!

Dear Jessica,
Your packages make me happy! :) However, when I said
"healthy foods" I meant a list, but thanks anyway. :) The
food is ALWAYS appreciated. :D
My companion thinks you are rich because of how many
packages i get from you. :) I'm starting to agree with him
but in more ways than just financially!
Do you have a mormon.org profile? If not.... GET ONE!
If so , make it easier to find. :)
Do you know an Elder Banderson? He's from Preston too.
Where are you reading in the scriptures? What are you
learning and applying? See if you can find "The Atonement"
by Elder Eyring and Elder Holland, it's amazing.
Any new info on your summer plans/ moving? You need
to give me a two week notice for your new address so I can
send it there.
Guess what?! I got to baptize someone yesterday! You
probably already knew that because of the blog but just
know that I told you first! :)
How good of an artist are you? Here is a really big
homework project for you. :) I would like you to sketch me

a drawing of a Marine and a Temple. I'll let you be creative
after that but that would be way cool!

Well that's all for now, Hagonet!
