November Package

This month I wanted to give him a Thanksgiving away from home. Of course I had to improvise a little when it came to the turkey ;) but I made it work. Inside were Pumpkin streusel muffins, apple cider, turkey jerky, pumpkin seeds, peanuts, mashed potatoes, turkey gravy, yogurt covered cranberries, and stuffing. I also made little turkeys out of tulle circles, pipe cleaners, googly eyes, and lots of Reese's Pieces. So cute! Thank you Pinterest! :) I also included a talk that I thought applied to him and of course a letter and a tie that is his favorite color. My missionary is all about pranks and teasing, so all he is going to see when he opens it is a pile of leaves. :)

Letter #30

Letter #30
Recorded-10/7/13
Received-10/9/13

So this week it was a little different. I was so excited! I love Wednesdays! Not only are they my day off but I get to hear from my missionary :) I opened the mailbox and I had this sinking feeling. No letter. :( I rummaged around as I pulled out newspapers and my roommates mail. At the very back of the mailbox there is a cushion mailer, with familiar looking handwriting :) He sent me something!!! Being the curious girl that I am I couldn't wait before I got back to the apartment so as I was walking back I tore it open. Inside were two necklaces that were made by a 94 year old man who makes jewelry for a living So pretty!! And a flash drive. He sent me his pictures! Included amongst all 932 pictures and 88 videos was all 7 package opening reactions for the packages I sent him, a video that he made of him reading the first dating application that I sent to him (so funny!), and a weekly letter in the form of a video. Awe! :) He told me of the miracles that he has witnessed in his life. Two of the miracles were from his Marine training and basics, one was in his family, and the rest were about his mission. It was a transfer week for him so he didn't get any mail so he asked me some questions.
Questions
-How many records do you have to keep while doing your "vampire" job?
-Have you ever heard of the missionary library?
-What are you studying right now in Gospel Doctrine or Gospel Principles? Which class are you in and why?
-How is your family doing? Especially Jacob. (My little brother)
Then he bore his testimony to me. It was so powerful! It was amazing to see how much he has grown in just 7 months. I know he is in the right place and I'm glad he is enjoying himself. He is a great missionary! And I know he is a strong instrument in the hands of the Lord. The people of Flora Vista are truly lucky to have him around.
Until next week :)
Jessica :)

Letter #26

Letter #26
Written-9/9/13
Received-9/11/13

Dear Jessica,
I'm so glad that you liked them! :) As for what I think about
your work, I would ask myself these questions; what do you do
when you're not working? What can the extra money help you
with in the future? Will you enjoy working full time? What will
you lose if you work full time? So, for missionaries (by the way
I'm not trying to put you down here) we are always tired. The
same thing happened in the Marine Corps. I've found that if you
just keep going with it your body will become used to it and it
wont be as big of a problem. :) So after you answer those
questions than I would tell you to make your decision. OF COURSE,
pray about it first! :) :)
I'm sooooo happy to hear you're reading the Book of Mormon!
And that your days are going better! It truly is amazing that
reading from it, just 10 to 15 minutes per day, makes such a big
impact. :) I love the Book of Mormon! And when I have time I will
try to beat my record. :)
     Navajo-who-haish
Answer time
-I think in the back of my mind I've always known the church
was true. It has always made logical sense to me. But it really
hit me during SOI. I had just gotten in from a water resupply. I
was looking out over the little valley from our patrol base. I had
a couple extra minutes so I took off my helmet and set it down
next to me. I held my rifle on my leg and pulled out my "Gospel
Principles" book. Wow, what a feeling! :)
-No, I don't have a lucky charm item. I guess the only thing it
could be is the challenge coin I got from the church at SOI.
-My favorite thing about Flora Vista is by far the people! I love
these people!!!
-Oh man, when I die I want people to remember my positive
attitude, I guess.
-Favorite dream. Well I don't really dream, so.....I guess I
daydream. That's normally about kicking in doors and stuff. :)
-Yes, we should all love God the most. He is the reason why we
and our spouse are here. He will not ask us to do anything that
will not be for our benefit!
-If I had to live somewhere in Asia it would be China or Japan.
Cool languages and culture. :)
-My favorite color of sticky note is whichever is on your car. :)
-The name of my new little sister is................................................
...............pause for dramatic effect..................................................
Autumn. :)

You should play it. It's fun. :) And I'm glad you are enjoying
your job! :) :)
"Knock, and it shall be opened unto you." to me means if
we "knock" on heavens doors (pray) we will be enlightened

pleased with me and I can enter into the highest degree of the

have come to love these people with all of my heart!
 -Favorite game-Axis and Allies
-3 words that describe me; Missionary, Marine, and Nonawesome

understand your reasoning now but that made me think that you
weren't really interested.

Dear Jessica,
Wow! You are a lot nicer than I am! I would've asked more
questions in the second letter! :) I was soooo happy to hear
that you got a new job! Especially since it's a vampire job. :) :)
Having "missionary brain" and having to write more people
than you is no excuse for asking questions that I have already
asked!!! But, I guess it will have to do. :)
My favorite picture of Christ is of him with the child on his
lap and him holding the butterfly. :) In five years I hope to be
married, graduated from BYU, be a USMC Infantry Officer
(2nd Lieutenant), and be in the Police Force (Preferably on a SWAT
Team). If I had my dream dog it would be named...that's a good
question......I've thought about it for like 5 minutes and
still have no clue. Probably Tyr. :) My perfect day would be spent
with my wife and family doing an activity that we all love. What
color of tie do I want/need/think would be awesome? Oh, I don't
care ;) my favorite color would be cool, but whatever. ;) Hehehehe.
Favorite thing to eat while camping, hands down is peppered beef
jerky! Even more than s'mores. :) Lastly, no I don't ever run out
of questions! MWAHAHAHAHA!!! :)

Dear Jessica,
I really enjoy hearing about your life. I'm so glad you
enjoy being a "vampire". :) Trust me your life is not boring
to me. And there are 6 females mentioned in the Book of
Mormon: Abish, Sarah, Sariah, Mary, Eve, &...Isabell. :)
My favorite chapter in the Book of Mormon is Alma 26.
But because you didn't ask why we'll leave it at that. :)
What do I cherish? The Gospel. My life right now is complete.
Because I'm serving the Lord I am happy. :) What do I yearn
for? Now, for the people I teach to accept the gospel. Favorite
tradition as a family, Christmas morning. My dad gets up and
makes "mountain man breakfast" then we spend the day as
a family. Love, is what makes a house a home.
I'm surprised you gave mercy with the questions. I wouldn't!
:)
For your information, my dad is now engaged. Just thought
you might want to know. :)
Navajo lesson- dikos- cough. :) Just for you and your medically
minded self. :)
WE'VE BEEN FRIENDS LONGER THAN A YEAR!!! It's been like
2 years. True I didn't get/steal your number until last year but
still. :) I'm still so mad that you found out! It was gonna be
AWESOME! No, no it was gonna be BE-AWESOME! But you just
had to spoil it didn't you. :P :) I'm glad our friendship means a
lot to you. It means a lot to me too. :D
Don't forget the back :) :) :)
It's my favorite part! :)
Question Time!!!
-How important are journals to you? Why?
-List your favorite from most to least. Ring, earring, necklace.
-What has been the hardest question I have asked?
-Favorite color of sticky note?
-Watch the October Conference from 2009. I'm in there. Find me.
:) :) hehehe
-Favorite 3 colors of jewelry? :)
-Favorite church video? Why?

Received-7/24/13

Dear Jessica,
Tell your mom thanks for the letter. Next, so every week
I send home a letter to everyone telling them what I'm
doing and how I'm  doing. :) If you wouldn't mind I'd like the
same from you. :) Thanks.

His blog: http://wordsfromourwarrior.blogspot.com/

So do you even want me to play a song when I get home?
Small towns are cool. They are very close-knit. I don't know if
I would want to live in one, but I would be willing to give it a
shot. If my life had a soundtrack, a soundtrack includes more
than one song, but if I could only choose one it would be...
probably "Keep Holding On" with Christ as the one talking.
Change my name? I like my name, but if I had to change it,
it would be Ammon Nephi Moroni. Oh Ya!!! :)
When I was a kid probably the story of Nephi in 1st Nephi,
because of the courage he had and faith. Now my favorite is
Ammon. He can teach with the spirit, he loves the people he

teaches, and he can fight. :)
You are asking the wrong person about the date thing. All
I can think of for actual "dates" are: 1) hiking, which you were
sore afterward (hehehe) :) 2) The Hobbit, and ya. :)
Navajo; the word you use for a reason that's not really a
reason, because- biniinaa (pronounced bin-ee-naw). Use it well,
I'm sure you will. In fact use it on your family and tell me their
responses to it. This is gonna be good. :)
     Now it's the fun part! :) :) :) :)
-Why do you like Alma 46?
-Favorite scripture story now and as a kid? Why?
-What do you cherish/ hold dear?
-What do you yearn for?
-What do you feel is missing in your life?
-How many girls are named in the Book of Mormon? What are
their names? :)
I guess that'll do for now. Well I hope you have a fantastic
week!
     Until next time, Hagonet!

Letter #18

Letter #18
Written-7/14/13
Received-7/20/13

Dear Jessica,
So this is going to be a quicker letter than normal
cause I still have to pack, more so finish packing cause
I am almost done. If for some reason you haven't heard,
which I'd be amazed :), I got transferred to Flora Vista,
NM and will be step training Elder Deacon there. Yes,
I'm excited. Yes, I'm sad to leave Blanding.
His new area.

So I want to GREATLY thank you for the poem. About
3 days before I received it from you I was talking to Elder
Hooton about it and how I wished I could get it. Then
BAM! You gave it to me. So Thank You!
I feel we became good friends between the end of
my basic and the start of SOI. I'd also REALLY look
forward to texting you every week in SOI. :)
Favorite experience is helping a family, the D family,
set a goal to get married in the temple. :)
Favorite prophets are Joseph Smith, Nephi, Christ :),
and Daniel. All had amazing courage and strength.
-So what was your first thought, words, and reaction to
what I sent you? I hope you liked them. :)
-Have you ever thought about getting a mormon.org
profile? (You should! They're cool!)
-Favorite chapter in the Book of Mormon? Why? :)
-How was your sister's wedding? What Temple?
Navajo for the week: ti-let's go
     Have a fantastic week! Hagonet!

Dear Jessica,
I LOVE THE TIE!!! You're packages are always so fun
and creative! I really enjoy them. :) And thank you for Mr
Squishy, he makes me smile, a lot. :) The definition and
your personal feelings on "sunshine" were really
inspirational. So I'm curious (as usual :) ) why did the
letter get sent back? If it was a wrong address, what did
you put? :)
(Mr. Squishy!)
As for your question about a non-living object that I
see everyday that symbolizes my life. Honestly, when I
read that the first thing that I thought of was your
sketch/trace. It's important to me because the church is
the most important thing to me and I love the Corps. So
now I'm asking the same question to you. :)
Now for your weekly Navajo lesson! :) So last week I
sent a picture of my new name tag. I'll give you the direct
translation, Jesus Christ
"BINAHAGHA" "AKEED" "DAYOOtKAAtGO YA NAAZINIGII"
"his religion" "those that"   "stand for it in the last days"
(His new name tag)
So cool story. This week we had some inactive members
help us with our family history. IT'S SO COOL! You should
get with your ward family history consultant and learn how
to do it, if you don't already know how, and you could work
on it while watching/listening to movies. Then you go to the
temple for those people. Just think of how happy those
people will be to see you when you get to the other side. :)
I'm excited to work on mine after my mission.
Now probably my favorite part of the letter!
QUESTION TIME!
-What do you think would be the hardest thing to endure
through for you?
-What song that you listen to, makes you feel the spirit
the most?
-What is your favorite chapter in the Book of Mormon?
-If I could come home and play one song on the piano after
my mission what would it be and why would you choose that
song?

Well I have to go soon, but I want to tell you how much
I know that this gospel is true. It has blessed my life in so
many ways. I have had so many spiritual experiences on my
mission. I have come to learn that as we obey God's
commandments we have his power and blessings and we are
happy.
Well until next time, don't forget to be awesome! Hagonet!

               -Elder Chipman

p.s.What do you know about the Hatfield and McCoy feud? We
talked about it in church today. :)

Letter #16

Received-7/3/13

Dear Jessica,
Thank you so much for the picture! I LOVE IT! I took a
picture of it and showed it to Elder Provard. We both
agreed that it was pretty beawesome. :)
(Picture that I sketched/traced for him)

Don't worry about the Navajo I'm not very good either.
So I want you to guess. GUESS, what this phrase is.
Naaltoos Mormon Wolyehigii. Guess. Did you guess? Make
sure you guess. Guess again just to be safe. GUESS!!!! :)
It's "The Book of Mormon" in Navajo. :)
It might be easier if I ask for stuff but then I feel selfish
and greedy. :)
So included in this letter is a cool little scripture help thing.
I changed the title cause we both know that the Corps is better
than the Army. ;) I hope this can help you with whatever comes
your way. Oh, and when I got it, it was already underlined so
don't mind the underlining. :)
My biggest fear? Hmm, I guess seeing my friends or people
here on my mission in the spirit world and have them say to me,
"Why didn't you share the gospel with me?" or, "Why didn't you
try harder for me?"
-What is your biggest fear?
-When do you feel we became really good friends?
-What do you cherish most in life?
-What do you feel your purpose is in life?
I want you to know that I know the church is true. I know
that all the actions we make we should make with love, for that
is truly what our savior and redeemer did. I know that if you and
I both do our best to love everyone we meet our Father in Heaven
will indeed bless us.
     Well until next time, Hagonet!
